Today we debated social networking. I was to represent cons which I tried to do. I really think social networking has a place in the school system. I think each new communication/technology that is embraced by students should be explored to see how it can be applied to teaching and learning. I do believe some of it will fade or evolve. I still haven't explored all the aspects but it sounds to me as if most of it can be set up with appropriate parameters.
I now feel more adept at maintaining my computer. I actually had to defrag this week due to some problems. I understand more about how to protect it from all that nasty malware. Now...where is that research report...

Shelly, are you talking about social networking like my space and facebook. I think it could be a cool resource for schools to use it as a medium to get to the student. myspace kind of sucks has a lot of crap to use it for educational purposes, but facebook surely has the potential
Yes that's what we are talking about...using what the students are using to engage the learner!! Also the need for social networking in online courses/distance learning. Most of the time people gotta talk to develop/deepen learning and understanding.
What do you think about that? Do you think if you are participating in coursework on line you would need to meet in some area like a virtual classroom and have the desire to talk about it? Would that be useful for you?
